National Day

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day (USA) It marks the ninth day of the ninth month to symbolise the nine months of pregnancy and focuses on the need to avoid alcohol entirely during pregnancy to prevent lifelong developmental disorders.

California Admission Day (USA) This day commemorates when California was admitted as the 31st U.S. state in 1850 under the Compromise of 1850, following the Gold Rush and the end of the Mexican-American War.

National Steak Au Poivre Day (USA) It celebrates the classic French dish consisting of steak coated with cracked peppercorns and served with a peppery sauce, admired in many fine-dining restaurants.

Emergency Services Day (999 Day) (UK) Also known as 999 Day, it honours the UK’s emergency services, including NHS, police, fire and rescue, and holds a two-minute silence at 9am to remember those who lost their lives while serving.
